Individual consent from the deceased is not possible, so ethics committees rely on institutional approval combined with strict anonymisation. How many autopsies does a forensic medicine thesis need?

Can a forensic medicine thesis involve living subjects?
Yes, and clinical forensic medicine is an underused area for postgraduate work. Age estimation from radiographs, examination in alleged sexual offence cases and assessment of injuries in assault victims all involve living persons and all require full written informed consent.
