What sample size is realistic for a nephrology thesis at a single centre?

For a prevalence question in a moderately busy unit, one hundred and fifty to three hundred participants is usually achievable over twelve to eighteen months. Comparative studies between dialysis modalities are harder, because peritoneal dialysis numbers are small at most Indian centres and that group usually becomes the limiting factor.
